This index is measured using the Nature Index which emphasizes the number of research articles published in high-impact journals. across the scientific disciplines, such as physics, chemistry, biology, environmental sciences, and medical research.
Methodology
Only countries with at least one publication in the 145 tracked journals during the 12‑month window are included.
Each article in the Nature Index journals is assigned a fractional contribution to each author’s institution(s) and country(ies).
The country share is the sum of all fractional contributions from all papers in the 12-month window
It is not normalized by GDP or population.
A small country can have a high share only if it publishes many articles in the tracked journals with high fractional contributions.
